This transformational course offers a safe and comfortable space for participants to explore their grief experience using various forms of art and other creative processes. Absolutely NO prior art experience needed. Thank goodness! This course is about exploration, creation and process not perfection and product. This is not a therapy group, however, creative therapy techniques are employed to help you explore your personal grief journey.
This is an eight week course and will meet on consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. September 27, 2017 ~ November 15, 2017

Amber Jacoby, BCTMB.
My life’s experiences and passions have led me to create opportunities to lift up women, children and families when they are at their most vulnerable. My own journey with grief began on what started out as a beautiful day in 2009 when I unexpectedly lost my husband to a pulmonary embolus resulting in sudden cardiac death. Throughout my healing I was supported by many and gathered many tools, and discovered the need for others. Traditional models of grief support helped but I found the "not so traditional" was most inspiring and held more value for me. I wanted to grieve in the way that I lived, not by some model out of a text book. I needed support and permission to grieve in a way that was natural for me. I was tired of feeling like I was "doing it wrong”. I now offer that opportunity to others through the Center for Creative Grief.
My passion to support others at end of life and who are grieving grew exponentially after my own journey through grief. I discovered early on the only way that I would survive and thrive was by honoring my individual grief process. I wanted to grieve with intention, love and creative exploration. I welcomed whatever emotion or feeling came knocking; always inviting it in to seek its purpose. A practice that did not come easily at first.
My heart lies in sitting one on one with an individual or in a group setting gently helping other find their own way of grieving. I specialize in grief support facilitation and for over 20 years I have worked with adults, children and families processing the death of a loved one. In 2011 I created Memory Beads- a creative process to honor the journey through grief and loss, touching the lives of hundreds if not thousands in our community. I’ve been witness to the healing powers of creative grief exploration time and time again. I consciously bring that aspect into my professional grief support practice.
I am a Certified Creative Grief Support Practitioner™ and Certified Compassionate Bereavement Care Provider® and specialize in group and one on one creative grief support facilitation. I proudly serve as an executive board member for TuNidito Children and Family Services. It's been my joy to be part of a facilitator team with Beautiful You and with Girls Scouts of Southern Arizona co-leading women's retreats for many years. I’m also Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and have worked with hundreds of families at end of life and those experiencing grief.
I would be honored to connect with you.
